About Us
Sarajevo Expats is a welcoming and vibrant community created to connect foreigners and locals living in Sarajevo. What began as a small WhatsApp group quickly grew into one of the most active international networks in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Today, we bring together people from all backgrounds, cultures, and professions who share one thing in common — a desire to feel at home and connected in this beautiful city.
To support this growth and ensure long-term impact, we established our official NGO, Mreža Stranaca (The Network of Foreigners). Through this organization, we work to build meaningful cultural, social, and educational bridges between internationals and the local community. Our goal is not only to create a space for socializing, but also to foster mutual understanding, collaboration, and opportunities that enrich both expats and locals.
Whether through community events, activities, information sharing, or partnerships with local organizations, Sarajevo Expats is committed to making Sarajevo a place where everyone can feel included, supported, and part of something bigger.

Our Mission
Our mission is to bring foreigners and locals together through social, cultural, and educational activities that strengthen community bonds. We aim to create an inclusive and supportive environment where newcomers can make friends, access trustworthy information, and fully enjoy life in Sarajevo.
Through our NGO, Mreža Stranaca, we work to:

Meet the Team
Yahia Nourallah
Yahia, born to a Bosnian mother and Egyptian father, moved to Bosnia 11 years ago and has since made Sarajevo his home. With a passion for connecting people, he rebranded Sarajevo Expats to help newcomers feel supported, welcomed, and part of a community. Yahia enjoys creating spaces where friendships form naturally and looks forward to meeting more expats and locals as the community expands.
Daniel Webster Bayes
Daniel, born and raised in the States, moved to Sarajevo with his family in 2021. He first came to BiH in 2013 for a college internship, and after falling in love with the country, culture, and people, had always dreamed to return. Daniel hopes to create spaces to empower men regarding fatherhood and identity. He views himself as a connector, having started multiple groups (basketball, board games, ultimate frisbee...) and is looking forward to meeting more expats and locals as "Sarajevo Expats" grows within the community.
Vilma Bajric
Vilma, 28, originally from Tuzla and now based in Sarajevo, first discovered the power of international community during her studies in Poland—an experience that continues to inspire her passion for connecting expats and locals in Sarajevo. An active book-club regular, dedicated Ashtanga yoga practitioner, and frequent workshop attendee, she loves diving into foreign languages and exploring cultures of all kinds, whether through everyday encounters or more curated experiences.
Ibrahim Mohamed
Ibrahim, originally from Egypt, came to Bosnia in 2022 to pursue his studies. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Information Technologies and is currently continuing his Master's at International Burch University. He enjoys full-stack development, working on practical projects and building solutions that address real needs. Ibrahim is committed to growing in the tech field and creating meaningful digital products in Sarajevo.
Mohamed Sheded
A social media specialist with 4 years of experience in content management and graphic design. Mohamed has managed multiple brand pages, including Sarajevo Expats, and worked with various companies to develop effective marketing strategies and enhance online presence.
